Nyon Castle has always been an administrative building, both under the House of Savoy and during the Bernese period. From 1803 until 1999 it was used as law courts and as a prison until 1979. Between 1999 and 2006 the Castle was totally restored and is now completely accessible to the public. The porcelain produced in Nyon between 1781 and 1813 is displayed. From the terrace visitors can enjoy the magnificent view out over Lake Geneva and the Alps and even have access to the Castle’s kitchen garden, still in use.
