Housed in a 1628 building, the Burghalde Museum covers the regional history of the area from the Stone Age onwards with emphasis on the archaeological finds which include two Roman bronze containers. The highlight is the unique collection of 16th to 19th century Russian icons. The museum covers the history of the castle and exhibits include partial reconstruction of huts, local ceramics, costumes and handcrafts, watches and clocks. The most bizarre item is what is said to be the oldest preserved can of tinned food in Switzerland; a can of peas produced by the Hero Company.
