The Bridge of Gueuroz was built between 1931 and 1934, following the plans of engineer Alexandre Sarrasin. The bridge embodies elegance and boldness of structure, and is seen as having architectural and historical value. The hamlet of Gueuroz is perched above Gorges du Trient, on a tiny escarpment and in an enchanting position. The famous bridge joins Salvan with Martigny by road. With its 187 metres in height, it was for a long time the highest bridge in Europe. It is a concrete bridge measuring over 168 metres in length. It terminates on either end with a 16-metre three-span access viaduct.
