The village of Besazio lies between hills and vineyards only 3 km from Mendrisio. Evidence of early habitation has been found dating back to the Roman era, with the uncovering of mansions and tombs. An ancient baptismal font was also discovered and this is now used as the basin for a fountain in the parish square. Interesting buildings worthy of visiting are the 18th Century Church of the lmmacolata (the church holds artworks by Bagutti, Rinaldi and Vela), the Villa Battaglini, which has Roman foundations, the Patrician Realini house and the Luigi Castle of Luigi Zanini.
