Arzo is located only 4 km from Mendrisio. This quaint and pretty village set amongst rolling hills dates back to at least the 13th Century. Arzo was the birthplace of the 17th Century sculptors, the Rossis, who worked on cathedrals in Milan and Turin. An interesting point of interest is the nearby marble quarry, where it is likely the Rossis found their material. Interesting buildings in Arzo include the Church of St. Nazaro and St. Celso which dates from the 16th Century and was renovated in the 17th, the 17th Century Oratory of the Madonna del Ponte and the Oratory of St. Rocco, also from the 17th Century.
