Arcegno is a typically Swiss and beautiful village close to Locarno. The centuries-old houses, many decorated with flowering plants, are built completely in local stone and set in narrow lanes that zig-zag through the village. Arcegno is surrounded by heavily-wooded hills and this is the place to visit if peace and quiet is your aim. There are regular buses between Locarno and Arcegno; the journey time is very short. There are a number of restaurants and bars where you can sit and enjoy the tranquillity and views before returning to the comparative bustle of Locarno.
