Countess Zoubov was a woman of European culture, with a taste for beautiful objects, which she bought in the course of her many travels between 1920 and 1930. Between 1720 and 1723, three mansions were built in the rue des Granges in the style of the beautiful patrician residences being built in France at that time. The items collected by Countess Zoubov are housed in one apartment within this group of buildings. She created a setting in the tradition of the 18th century salons, with authentic period furniture by French cabinet-makers, rare ceramics, Sèvres porcelain, precious carpets, and paintings by Vigée-Lebrun and others.
