The Gartenbad Weiden is a pleasant public open-air swimming pool, located at Dornach some 10 km south of Basel. It is on the banks of the River Birs, a tributary of the Rhine, which it joins between Birsfelden and Basel. The facilities are limited to the open-air pool, grassed areas suitable for both sunbathing and picnics, a games area for Frisbee, badminton, etc. and changing cubicles, lockers, showers and toilets. It is suitable for a break if you are visiting other nearby attractions, such as the Goetheanum (see separate entry), the Dornach Castle ruins or the local museum.
