The tiny village of Waasen is located at an altitude of 930 metres, close to the village of Göschenen and approximately 11 km north of Andermatt. Its beautiful setting and lavish church are well worth visiting. The 18th century baroque church and its separate chapel stand on high ground with superb views of the valley from the terrace in front. Wassen has a typical Alpine inn and the pretty village square (Dorfplatz) has an interesting fountain. The Susten Pass connects Wassen with Innertkirchen and the road passes through the romantic Meiental Valley. The Gotthard railway line here has a double loop.
