The Vindonissa Museum in Brugg opened in 1912 and has recently been reconditioned; it contains a rich collection of finds from the Roman fort of Vindonissa. Around 15 AD, a Roman legion camp was established at Vindonissa, which is now known as Windisch. The remains of the large amphitheatre, camp gates and a fully functional aqueduct are amongst the structures that can still be seen today and the site is listed as a heritage of national significance. Excavations of the site started in 1897. The museum contains ceramics, glass, leather, tools, weapons, coins, extensive documentation relating to the excavations and much more.
