The Botanical Gardens belong to the Department of Biology of the Faculty of Science of the University of Freiburg and are adjacent to the Perolles Science Campus. There are more than 6,000 plant species, two greenhouses devoted to tropical plants and one to cacti and other succulents. The gardens are divided into 21 different sections which include, among others, Swiss alpine plants, medicinal plants, orchids, roses, an orangery and water plants. Temporary exhibitions are also staged. The ‘Way Flowers of Bach’ was inaugurated in 2008 with a plan/guide which can be downloaded from the website.
