Located in Reichsgasse, close to St Martin’s Church (see separate entry), the Chur Town Hall (Rathaus) is an interesting building. Following a fire in 1464, it was rebuilt and has been extended and altered several times since. One of its most intriguing features is the trapezoid roof and cross vaulting which date from the 16th century. The interior of the building has artefacts from various eras, which reflect its long history. The Citizens’ Council Chamber dates from 1538 and has a 17th century tiled stove and the 1494 Council Chamber has a collection of precious stones.
