The Schtrumpfs are one of Geneva’s more unusual landmarks. Standing in front of these buildings, located 23-29 rue Louis-Favre behind the Cornavin railway station, it’s easy to think you have strayed into a comic strip, that of the little blue characters, the Schtrumpfs. The buildings were erected between 1982 and 1984 and were the brainchild of three unconventional architects. These Gaudi-like structures, comprised of mouldings, polychrome elements, a profusion of mosaics, wrought iron, arabesques and schtrumpferies of all nature, seem to ignore any straight lines.
