Located in the village centre of Andermatt, the Talmuseum is housed in one of the most attractive chalet-type houses in the Unsern Valley. It was built in 1786 for Talamann Franz Dominik Nager (1745-1816) and was restored to its original form in the period 1987-1991; the interior is furnished in characteristic local style. It was used in 1799 by the Russian General Suworow as his headquarters. The museum presents an overview of the history, culture and the development of tourism of the area. One particularly interesting section is devoted to the locally born 1972 Olympic champion skier, Bernhard Russi.
