Stockalper’s Castle, known locally as Stockalperschloss, was built between 1658 and 1678 by Kaspar Jodok von Stockalper who came to Brig from Thurm. Kaspar Jodok was a man of exceptional talents. He was known to be intelligent and courageous, but had a whimsical bent as well. He decided to put the castle under the protection of the Three Wise Men by naming the towers Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar. There is an outstanding baroque rose garden with fountains. A vineyard has been newly created. Guided visits are available every day with the exception of Mondays.
