The fully restored 1804 steam tram operates on certain weekends in season (check dates). It departs from the stop at Schwanengasse, between the Bern train station and the Hirschengraben, and the round trip takes about fifty minutes. You will pass most of Berne’s main sights including the famous Clock Tower, the medieval Münster (cathedral), the distinctive Houses of Parliament, the River Aare and several of the beautiful and renowned fountains. There are stops at Bärenplatz and the Clock Tower. The restoration of the tramway took about eight years between 1894 and 2002. It provides a unique way to tour the city.
