St Leonhard Chapel was consecrated in 1412 and is dedicated to the patron saint of farmers; located at the western entrance to Bad Ragaz, it is a pilgrimage chapel and also frequently used for weddings. The vestibule is richly decorated with pictures and captions, which commemorate the battle of Ragaz in 1446, when the ruling Austrians were beaten by the Central Swiss during the Old Zürich War (1436-1450). Other features of the chapel include the three exceptional altars and the various 15th century frescos uncovered in 1981 during renovations.
