Located in the Kurzdorf quarter, the original church dedicated to St John the Baptist dated back to around 1200 and the present day building was constructed in 1915-1916. The painted glass windows are an outstanding feature and are the work of Ernst Linck (1874-1935) a Swiss painter and restorer. He was frequently commissioned to restore the ornamental painting of the figures on the historic fountains in the town centre of Berne. In a separate room there are also murals dating back to 1400, which were discovered during the demolition of the old church. The 20 register organ was built in 1960 by Kuhn.
