The Elapsoïdea Association (named after a snake from Africa) was created in 1979 by three young people with a passion for snakes. They wanted a place to educate the public, conserve species and collaborate with scientists. In 1982, the centre acquired became a cultural foundation. As the volume of work grew, it became clear they needed larger premises. The new vivarium was completed in 1992. This remarkable building enables visitors to observe a superb collection of snakes, lizards, crocodiles and turtles from all over the world in their natural environment.
