Schwarzsee, a lake with a surface area 0.47 km², is located approximately 26 km southeast of Fribourg. Surrounded by the magnificent peaks of Schwyberg (1,628 metres), Les Reccardets (1,923 metres), Spitzfluh (1,951 metres) and Kaiseregg (2,185 metres), it has much to offer in addition to swimming and the Riggisalp (see separate entries). The walk around Lake Schwarzsee takes about 1.5 hours; it gets its name from the almost black water which reflects the mountains. Other features include a waterfall and mini-golf. Legend has it a pious hermit killed a dragon on top of the Kaiseregg, by making a sign of the cross.
