Located about 12 km northeast of Berne, the Schönbühl Spa is said to be the largest natural salt baths in Switzerland and has both indoor and open-air pools all under lifeguard supervision. The open-air pools comprise a salt-water bath, whirlpool and massage pool, all 20 metres in length and 34/35°C. Indoors, there is a 26-metre salt-water bath and a 20-metre massage pool at the same temperature. Facilities include grassed sunbathing areas with shade, a solarium and saunas, a restaurant, changing cubicles, lockers, showers and toilets. Various types of massage are available and there is a physiotherapy department
