The Sasso Corbaro Castle (see separate entry) houses the Sala Emma Poglia, the historically important ‘wooden room’ built in the 17th century for the Emma family. It was bought by the Canton of Ticino in 1944 and eventually fully restored and moved to Sasso Corbaro in 1989. With the exception of the ceiling decorations, the entire room is panelled in solid walnut and contains a stone-built stove which bears the eagle and rampant lion crest of the Emma family. The museum also houses temporary exhibitions.
