Ringgenberg is only 1.5 km northeast of Goldswil and its church with a Baroque interior was designed by architect Abraham Dunz and built into the castle ruins in 1670. The castle was built in 1230 by Kuno von Brienz, the overlord of the Lake Brienz area and was inhabited until 1380, when it was burnt down and plundered. The first clock was installed in 1718 and the organ, which dates from 1837, was played by the German composer Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847). The castle walls are being restored.
