The well preserved village of Regensberg is located approximately 14 km east of Baden on a ridge of the Lägern at 617 metres above sea level. It was founded around 1245 as a fortified settlement by the Barons of Regensberg. Its main features are the 21 metre high round tower of the old 16th-17th century castle and the ancient 57 metre deep well. The church, originally dating from the 13th century, was rebuilt in 1506 and there are some interesting restored houses; these include the 1540 half-timbered ‘Rote Rose’ and the Rose Museum of the painter Lotte Günthard.
