The village of Paspels, at an altitude of 778 metres, is located close to Canovasee Lake (see separate entry) and some 20 km southwest of Chur. Paspels (Romansch Pasqual) was first mentioned 1237 and has a number of highlights, including the St Lawrence Chapel, a Swiss heritage site with Romanesque wall paintings. The restored Schloss Sins and the ruins of both Alt-Sins and Neu-Sins castles, the latter southwest of the village, are other features. The 1508 St Maria-Magdalena Chapel in Dusch is also a Swiss listed heritage site.
