The Museum of Old Plainpalais is there to preserve the memory of the past and the events which have marked Plainpalais’ existence. Plainpalais has a long history, separate to its close link to Geneva. The museum was created in 1953 in the old town hall. The building itself is of great interest, being constructed in the Beaux-Arts style and dating from the end of the 19th century. It contains documents and photographs of earlier days and there are many large painted panels illustrating scenes of daily life. The wedding room alone, decorated in the old style, makes the visit worthwhile.
