The Hommage to the Old Gottéron Bridge Sculpture is the work of Kuno Seethaler from 1984-1986. It stands in front of the l’Université de Miséricorde in Fribourg and commemorates the old suspension bridge 76 metres (250 feet) above the Gottéron valley which no longer exists. The work is integrated perfectly into its setting and its elegant grace, proportions and steel cables immediately convey the character of the old bridge. The shape of the bronze elements is testament to the technique involved, in what is an evocative modern sculpture.
