Located to the left of the main entrance in the l’Université Miséricorde gardens, La Nymphe de Miséricorde is a 1990 work by Oscar Wiggli (b.1927), a leading Swiss sculptor who was born in Solothurn. It is a focal point of the gardens, which are a peaceful meeting place for academics. The Nymph of Mercy is a fountain of impressive size weighing some 3.5 tonnes and formed of three 3,85 meters high metal plates 5 cm thick with two rectangular ponds one of which has 5 small water jets.
