The Natural History Museum is in the same building as the Archaeological Museum (see separate entry) and shares its botanical garden. In 2007 the museum won the Prix Expo 2007 of the Swiss academy of the natural sciences, the citation stating inter alia, ‘many objects are openly accessible … showcases are used only where protection is a priority …’. There are permanent exhibitions on three floors, with alternating special exhibitions, and amongst the exhibits are a fox that can be petted, a building master beaver and an ant hill. Afterwards, there is the ‘Zum Goldenen Becher’ café available for refreshments.
