IETA, the National Riding Institute, in Avenches is the national stud, as well as being an internationally recognised centre of excellence in horse breeding. The National Riding Institute has more than 30 horse demonstrations annually. The majority of them include several disciplines where the spectator is invited to follow, throughout the day, various aspects of horse riding. Apart from the breeding and shows, the centre puts on trotting races and gallops, including the Swiss Championship. There is a restaurant and bar on site for refreshments.
