The Mountain Cheese Dairy of Moléson-sur-Gruyères, 6.5 km southwest of Gruyères, dominates the village square and is housed in a chalet first built in 1686. It was rebuilt in 1827, renovated in 1990, and is a protected historic monument. The dairy demonstrates cheese made in the traditional way in a huge cauldron on a wood fire. There is also an audio-visual display dealing with the manufacture of traditional regional products. One room in the chalet is devoted to temporary exhibitions of local artists. You can taste and buy the regional products or have a traditional meal such as fondue or macaroni.
