When the 1356 earthquake collapsed the towers of the late-Romanesque Münster, three stories of the George tower remained and the lighter colour can still be seen. The George tower (64.2 metres high) was rebuilt in Gothic style by Hans Kun to Ulrich von Ensingen’s design. The equestrian statue (1372) at the foot of the tower is of St George slaying a small dragon with a very long lance. The Martin Tower (62.7 metres high) was built at the end of the 15th century by Hans von Nussdorf in similar style; the equestrian statue is of St Martin with a cloak.
