The Mineral Museum is located in the basement of the Bethlehem Diorama (see separate entry). Opened in 1998, it houses the private mineral collection of the physician Dr Adelrich Eberle and there are more than a 1,000 exhibits. Approximately one third of the specimens come from Switzerland and the balance from overseas; they are organised into classes of minerals and there is a particular focus on quartz. The collection has been amassed over thirty years and is immaculately displayed with descriptive texts. It is intriguing to see the way in which ordinary minerals reveal fantastic colours under ultraviolet light.
