The village of Flums is located approximately 16 km northwest of Bad Ragaz and has a traditional craft of mask carving. The skilled artist Hugo Reichlin, a unique local character, is arguably the most famous carver and you can visit him by prior appointment. You will learn about the art and tradition of his craft and see his outstanding works of art. Initially the masks were distorted, but characteristic, portrayals of people, but later represented the grotesque features of demons, devils and witches; they are known as larven. Reichlin will also entertain you with his surprising and amusing tales.
