Opened in 1983, the local museum (Heimatmuseum) of the mountain village and ski resort of Adelboden is housed in the former English church opposite the Rex cinema. It has a wide-ranging display of exhibits relating to the history and culture of the village and the Engstligen Valley. The collection contains sporting items, costumes, cameras, minerals, documentary history and also deals with the growth of tourism and the arts and crafts of the region. Of particular interest is the coverage of the avalanche in the winter of 1999 and the reconstruction of a mountain hut.
