Located between Rue Basse and the lake, La Tour de Gex is partially hidden by houses. There are two other towers with round turrets on a square base dating from the same period. These are found between the Castle and the lake. The towers were built about 1470, just prior to the Wars of Burgundy. La Tour de Gex marked the south-western end of the rampart protecting the city. From there, a wall stretched in the direction of Rue Basse until it reached a gate on the road to Yverdon. The site of this door is still visible, marked by paving stones.
