The remarkable landscaped grounds of La Grange Park cover 12,000 m2 and comprise one rosebush per square meter. Created in 1945-46, this rose garden boasts over 200 varieties. The park has terraced flowerbeds between stone steps, and is decorated with pools and pergolas. The Roman foundations are a feature dating back centuries. The annual international contest for new roses takes place in the park. There are in total three rose gardens in Geneva: La Grange Park, the Promenade Gustave-Ador, and the Franchises Park.
