The Kleines Klingental Museum is housed in the historic rooms of the 13th century former Dominican convent, which was founded on the banks of the River Rhine in 1274. It was once the richest in Basel and has been a museum since 1938. The museum affords visitors the opportunity to discover the convent history and the nature of convent life in that era; the dining facilities and cells can be visited. Original medieval sculptures from Basel cathedral are on display and there is also a 17th century model of the city.
