The History of Science Museum is is situated in the Villa Bartholoni (the city’s most beautiful neo-classic house, built in 1828) and is the only one of its kind in Switzerland. Inside the villa, the rooms are decorated with wall paintings which are among the most accomplished of the Pompeiian style in the country. The collections are composed of numerous old scientific instruments (microscopes, barometers, sun dials and astrolabes), books and documents bequeathed by the families of Geneva’s scientists and scholars or donated by the public institutions.
