The Thurgau Cantonal History Museum is housed in the historic Frauenfeld Castle (see separate entry). The exhibits are wide ranging and include the knights’ cellar, the treasury, with rare items from former monasteries and churches, artefacts from Neolithic times, art works and weapons. The 17th to 19th century furnished rooms of both town and country dwellers are of particular interest and, in addition to the permanent exhibitions, the museum stages two special exhibitions each year.
