The old town of Weesen, approximately 13 km north of Glarus, has a fascinating history, much of which can be gleaned from the local museum, but it is well worth exploring on foot. Amongst the items of interest are the Kurfürsten Park created in 1931, with some 150 different plant and tree species, and the medieval town. The parish church of St Martin was first mentioned in the 13th century although the present building is mainly 19th century. Other attractions are the Zwinglikirche, Büelkirche and the small Kapfenberg castle. The website has a suggested route and further details.
