Habsburg is located close to Schinznach-Bad and is approximately 12.5 km west of Baden. The 11th century castle was the ancestral seat of the Hapsburg family, who played an important role in the shaping of Europe. Since 1803 it has been owned by the canton and the keep houses a permanent exhibition; there is also a fine restaurant with a terrace in the palatial residential area. Situated on the Wülpelsberg peak near the River Aare, visitors are offered superb views. The exhibition contains information on the Habsburg dynasty and on the castle, including a wooden model.
