Opened in 1998, the H R Giger Museum contains a huge collection of the artist’s paintings, sculptures, furniture and film designs, dating from the early 1960s until the present day. H R Giger, best known for his design work on the film ‘Alien’, was born in Chur in Switzerland in 1940 and his work has been influenced by Salvador Dalí and Ernst Fuchs; he is regarded as one of the world’s foremost exponents of Fantastic Realism. On the top floor is the artist’s own private art collection of over 600 works and three rooms are used for exhibitions by fellow artists.
