If you are visiting Göschenen (see separate entry), take the opportunity of driving out to the Göscheneralpsee, which is located at an altitude of 1,792 metres some 9.5 km west of the village. The road goes through the beautiful Göschenen valley, past the Göschener Alp inn and on to the wonderfully sited Dammagletscher inn, which has plenty of parking. The adjacent Göscheneralpsee is a reservoir with a capacity of some 75 million cubic metres and a surface area of 1.32 km². There are superb views of the Dammastock and its glacier and it is a starting point for many mountain climbs.
