Goldswil is a charming village located by Lake Brienz, only 2 km northeast of Interlaken; the Burgseeli Lake Lido (see separate entry) is close by and the village is an ideal starting point for visits to the Jungfrau. The church dates back to the 12th century, the first known reference being 1190. When the Ringgenberg church was built in 1670 (see separate entry), the Goldswil church, which was in the danger of collapsing, was abandoned and only the Romanesque tower and the lower level of the walls remain. The pretty cemetery is, however, still used.
