The Centre de la photographie was founded in 1984 by a group of photographers in Geneva who wanted to portray photography as a fine art. Today the Geneva Photography Centre exhibits many different types of productions, distributions and presentations of the contemporary photography focused on the domain of town planning, the documentary style and the critics of representation. The Geneva Photography Centre produces an average of six to seven exhibitions a year, of which one held outside the centre’s domain. The Geneva Photography Centre is organizing the 50 Years of Photography in Geneva in collaboration with the museums, art-centres, galleries and libraries.
