Opened in November 1990, in a renovated factory which was being used as a night shelter, Fribourg’s Contemporary art Centre Fri-Art aims to provide a platform for all new art forms and to promote up and coming art forms. They opened with Irish live performance artist Tara Babel and films by Swiss eccentric kinetic artist Roman Signer. The avante-garde vision of the centre has gained it an international reputation. The nature of the centre’s exhibitions can be judged by their 2008 programme, which features Amy O’Neill, Delphine Coindet and Peter Coffin.
