Flüh is located at an altitude of 381 metres and is almost on the French border, approximately 12 km southwest of Basel. On a hill, just over the border, is the ruined late 13th century Landskron castle, which has a huge keep and was rebuilt by the military engineer Vauban (1633-1707). It was destroyed in 1813 by the Austrians and Bavarians fighting against Napoleon and partly restored in 1996. Attractions in Flüh include the chalybeate (iron salt) spring, the Sternenberg ruin to the southeast and the Ecumenical Church. There is a 3.5 hour scenic and cultural walk from Flüh to Laufen.
