The village of Fishingen is located about 19 km south of Frauenfeld and its beautiful and historic Monastic Church of St Idda was restored in 2004/5 and once more has its baroque colours. Saint Idda lived in the monastery in the 12th/13th centuries, but her tomb, set in the sandstone, dates from 1496 and is a place of pilgrimage. The original monastery was founded in the 12th century and was abolished in 1848, but the church remained as the parish church. The tower goes back to 1587; it was increased in size in 1727 and given its final form in 1751.
