‘Exit’ is a 1999 work by the Swiss contemporary artist Peter Stämpfli (b.1937), who lives in Paris, and it can be found in the coach station of the Fribourg Railway station. Having been invited by Fribourg Public Transport (TPF) to take part in their competition, Stämpfli won with ‘Exit’ which consists of sixteen monumental wall panels in contrasting colours on his signature theme of tyre tread patterns. The contrast with the concrete and steel in the structure and the choice and interaction of colours in the various panels is dynamic.
